An early morning fire Tuesday ripped through five homes in Baltimore.

Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County firefighters battled the fire on South Hannover.

"The way we handle vacant homes is always going to be on the forefront of our mind," fire department spokeswoman Blairs Adams told WMAR2News.com. "The way we handle vacant homes is always going to be on the forefront of our mind. When we arrived, we had vacant homes that were fully involved, we immediately began an exterior operation so we did not have any of our members have interior operations fight this fire."

One of the structures collapsed during the fire.
